Decking FAQs

Composite or timber — which is better?

Composite needs almost no maintenance and lasts 25+ years but costs more upfront. Timber is cheaper and warmer to the eye but needs oiling every couple of years. We'll help you decide based on how you use it.

Can you replace just the boards or do I need a new frame?

Often the frame is fine and we just replace the boards. We'll check the joists first and only quote frame work if it's needed.

How long does a deck take to install?

Most domestic decks 3–5 working days. Bigger multi-level decks 1–2 weeks.

Do you handle planning where needed?

Yes — most decks are permitted development, but raised decks over 30cm or close to boundaries may need an application. We'll flag it before quoting.
